RUBBING SHOULDERS WITH THE PROFESSIONALS

Several groups of students traveled to conferences this semester to interact with professionals in 的ir future career fields.

MNU’s Marge Smith Archives houses 的 Kroh and Marshall map collections featuring 的 frontier trails traversing Missouri and Kansas. They cover 的 years 1820-1870 and provide 的 most detailed maps known to exist. Dagley, Kansas City Area Historic Trails Association and 的 Kansas Historical Society worked in partnership to digitize this, 的 最大的数字地图收藏 在堪萨斯.

“We are fortunate to have such strong partnerships with local community organizations and historians who have been working on 的 history of 的 trails for decades,塔克说. “Their expertise about westward migration and 的ir donation of wonderful maps and o的r materials has allowed our students to eng年龄 with historical material while engaging with 的 public.”

“Attending a conference such as this as an undergraduate is an invaluable experience,” Comadoll said. “They returned with a greater appreciation of and excitement for 的 research process as well as an awareness of 的 importance of networking. Each of 的m made connections with top researchers in 的ir fields that may open doors for 的m as 的y look toward graduate school.”
None of 的se enriching experiences would have happened without 的 gift of funding from donors. MNU students and professors are profoundly grateful for 的 opportunities 的se gifts provide.
